What to expect at your free consultation:

Bring whatever paperwork you have from your case and come with a list of questions. I’ll do a lot of listening for the first part of the meeting – and will have some questions of my own for you. I’ll take as much time as we need – and you’ll never be charged for the time we spend at that initial meeting.

The consultation is my chance to get to know your case, and your chance to get to know me. It’s important for you to feel comfortable with me as your attorney – you and I will be discussing personal details of your life – and it takes time to build that kind of relationship. While it’s true that cases are better the earlier you get an attorney involved, I will never pressure you into signing a contract and will give you the time you need to make this important decision.

ABOUT RUBIN LAW OFFICE

After a decade of working for various prosecutor’s offices in Massachusetts and a particularly harsh New England winter – my wife and I decided to give southern California a try. The day I flew to Oakland to take the California bar exam I spent the morning standing on a snow drift in my front yard using a sledge hammer to break ice dams on the roof of my house – that was the motivation I needed to pass the test.

While my wife pursued a master’s degree at SDSU, I started work for a small personal injury firm in downtown San Diego. There I took the courtroom skills I honed on the hundreds of a cases and scores of trials I had as a prosecutor on behalf of the government and put them to work for real people who were injured just going about their daily lives. After a few years negotiating with insurance companies and taking personal injury cases to trial I decided to strike out on my own – and opened Rubin Law Office, PC.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Rubin Law Office FAQs

Does Rubin Law Office Handle Criminal Law Cases?

Yes, criminal defense cases are one of my areas of specialty. My criminal defense legal services span a wide range of case types. I can handle DUI cases, drug charge cases, assault cases, gun crime defense cases, disorderly conduct cases, and more.

Does Rubin Law Office Handle Personal Injury Cases?

Yes, Rubin Law Office is as much a personal injury law firm as a criminal defense law firm. Injury cases I can handle include car accident cases, motorcycle accident cases, truck accident cases, dog bite cases, product defect cases, slip and fall cases, and more.

What Areas Does Rubin Law Office Serve?

Rubin Law Office serves all of San Diego County. While I’m based in Carlsbad, I regularly represent individuals in San Diego, Escondido, Oceanside, El Cajon, Vista, San Marcos, Santee, Encinitas, National City, La Mesa, and Poway.

What Makes Rubin Law Office Different?

I focus on personalized representation, honest communication, and strategic case preparation. Every client receives direct attention and a legal strategy tailored to their specific situation.

Does Rubin Law Offer Free Consultations?

Yes, Rubin Law Office does offer free, no-obligation initial consultations. These consultations serve as an opportunity for me to explore how I might be able to help you and for you to explore whether or not you’d like me to represent you in your case. During your free consultation, I’ll review the details of your case, help you devise an initial legal strategy, and answer any questions you may have.

What Should I Bring To My Consultation?

Bring any documents, photos, police reports, medical records, insurance information, or communication related to your situation. If you’re unsure what’s relevant, bring everything you have, and we’ll sort through it together.

How Quickly Should I Contact a Lawyer After an Incident?

As soon as possible. Early legal guidance helps protect your rights, preserve evidence, and prevent avoidable mistakes. Even if you’re unsure whether you have a case, a consultation can clarify your options and next steps.

Will My Case Go To Trial?

Many cases are resolved without trial through negotiation or settlement, but every situation is different. If a trial becomes necessary, I prepare every case as if it may go to court so that you’re fully protected at every stage.

What Is The Billing Structure For Rubin Law Office?

The billing structure for cases depends on the type of case. All personal injury cases are billed on a contingency fee basis, which means that you don’t pay anything unless I win your case. For criminal defense cases, most cases are billed at a flat rate. Larger or more complex cases are billed hourly. I believe in full pricing transparency. I will let you know in the initial consultation if your criminal case would be flat rate or hourly, so that you know what to expect should you decide to work with me.

How Long Do Cases Typically Take?

The length of time it takes a case to settle is dependent on a number of different factors, including, but not limited to, the type of case, the complexity of the case, court backlogs, and more. Generally speaking, personal injury cases take between six months and two years to settle on average, while criminal cases average four to six months for misdemeanors and one to two years for felonies. You can learn more about the criminal or personal injury case processes by visiting the criminal defense or personal injury service pages.

How Will Rubin Law Office Communicate With Me?

I work to keep you updated at each step in your case, so that you’re never left wondering what is going on. I can communicate updates via email, phone, or video conference. I will ask for your preferred method of contact, so that case updates are provided through the best communication channel for you.

How Can I Best Support My Case?

The most important step is to act quickly and stay organized. Save documents, photos, messages, and any records related to your situation, and avoid discussing your case publicly. Early legal guidance can prevent mistakes and protect your rights. I can review your situation and explain the next steps based on whether your matter involves criminal defense or personal injury. For case-specific guidance, visit the criminal defense or personal injury sections of the site.
